HA LONG BAY-VIETNAM

“WONDER OF THE WORLD”

INTRODUCTION

If you have packed your bag to visit a beautiful place in the world then your this time tour must be of Vietnam. This world is full of natural wonders undoubtedly. Nature has spread its beauty everywhere in the world and almost every corner of the world is the beneficiary of this munificence. Vietnam is also one of those countries which are getting popularity for their natural beauty. Vietnam is famous for its beaches and boat tours. Among the other tourist destinations of Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is one of the most famous and major tourist attractions in the country. Not only of Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is one of the world’s natural wonders and a famous tourist attraction. This beautiful place is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Ha Long Bay is located in the Quang Ninh Province of Vietnam and is under the administration of Ha Long city. Ha Long Bay is spread over 120 km coastline of Bai Chay Beach. The distinct feature of the bay is thousands of limestone karsts and islands. These karsts and islands are of different shapes and sizes.


FEATURES

The Ha Long Bay covers an area of 1,553 sq.km and this so vast area includes 1960 islets. These wide spread islets are of limestone. When we reach to the core of the bay, here you find 775 islets which are spread over the area of 334 sq.km. Most of the islets are uninhabited here in Ha Long Bay. This is really a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Another feature of the area is abundance of lakes within the limestone islands. Its not the end, extensive limestone caves are also an important feature of the Ha Long Bay.

In short Ha Long Bay contains a tremendous diversity of caves and other landforms which are featuring the area as most beautiful tourist attraction in the country. The inhabitants of there are very few in numbers. There are just 1600 people living in the Ha Long Bay and where they live are called fishing villages. These villages are four in numbers and have a very interesting feature of floating houses. The main source of their livelihood is cultivation of marine biota.


TOURISM

If you are a tourist and have visited the beautiful sites in the world then you must have visited the Ha Long Bay which is called the wonder of the world. It’s really a beautiful place with beautiful islands and caves of all sizes and shapes. Although the most of the islands are not inhabited but still there beauty appeals the tourists. The bay consists of almost 3000 limestone islands and each rises from the sea spectacularly with thick forests vegetation at the top.

Tourists may visit two big islands, Tuan Chao and Cat Ba because these islands have tourist facilities and beautiful beaches. It’s not the case that the small islands are not beautiful. Some small islands have beautiful beaches as well. But one thing is not favourable with the tourism point of view is the poor condition of boats which have caused several accidents. The bay has a tropical weather system and there are just two seasons which are summer and winter. There is heavy rainfall in the summer. On the whole the visit of Ha Long Bay will be enough worthwhile that you will not forget for your whole life.

VENICE-ITALY “THE MOST ROMANTIC CITY IN THE WORLD”


INTRODUCTION

Italy is a dazzling and mesmerizing country. This country has number of must see places. Tourists attract to the country in great number every year. Among all the major tourist attractions and beauties of the country there is the world famous city of Venice. By visiting Venice you seem to have sprung from dream. The city of Venice is on an archipelago which consists of 117 islands. This city is called the city of canals and there are 150 canals. The islands which are inhabited are linked with 400 bridges. In the old city of Venice these canals work as roads and streets of the city. This city is really beautiful and when you come to see the city you will be mesmerized for some time by the glittering mosaics of the principal square of the Italy called San Marco and the waterside Piazza.

There are two main reasons for which this city is so famous all over the world, one is the tourism and the other is industry. This city which is audaciously built on a lagoon is located in the Northern Italy and is the capital of Veneto region. The name of the city is taken from the people of Veneti who were settled here in 10th B.C. it is said and I m sure that rightly said Venice is the most romantic city in Europe. It is known to the world with name Venice but it has other names as well like La Dominante, Queen of the Adriatic, City of water, City of marks, the Floating City, City of canals and City of bridges.

Thousands of people may have said words about the city but Luigi Barzini described the city of Venice in its real beauty. He described the city as undoubtedly the most beautiful city built by man in New York Times.

HISTORY

Due to unavailability of historic record about how the city established, it is not possible to say anything for sure. But historians are believed that the city was inhabited by the people who were refugees and migrated from the Roman Empire. In 16th century the city was considered a most famous center for music.


TOURISM

Undoubtedly Venice is one of the major important tourist attractions in the world. The art work in the city is amazing. This city is one of the world’s greatest and the most beautiful cities of art. How popular is the city around the globe can be judged from the fact that almost 50,000 visitors visit the Venice. In 2006 the city got the 28th number in the ranking of world’s most visited international cities. About 2.927 international arrivals were recorded in that specific year. Tourism has been established as industry in Venice and is a great contributor towards the economy of the city. Tourists attract towards the Venice due to its uniqueness, cityscape and above all the great musical and artistic cultural heritage.

An annual festival is celebrated in Venice which attracts the tourists from all over the world. This festival is called Carnival of Venice. This carnival was revived in 1980’s from that time it has become the center of international conferences and festivals. The famous festivals of the Venice are Venice Film Festival and Venice Biennale in which artists participate from all over the world to show their artistic work. Other major tourist attractions of the city include St Mark’s Basilica, Grand Canal and Piazza San Marco.

GRAND CANYON – USA – NATURE’S ARCHITECTURAL WONDER

INTRODUCTION

This world famous canyon is located in the Arizona State of United States of America. Basically this canyon is steep sided and has been formed by the carving of Colorado River. When we define a canyon we say that a canyon is a deep ravine between cliffs normally formed by the carving of a river. Most of the part of Grand Canyon is situated in the Grand Canyon National Park. This canyon is the result of uplift of Colorado Plateau. Although the right time of the formation of Grand Canyon is still a point of debate among the geologists but current evidences suggest that the Colorado River started flowing through the canyon about 17 million years ago. It is really a big canyon and you can find the proof of the statement with the fact that the Grand Canyon is 277 miles long with the width of 18 miles and depth is about 1 mile. Although it is neither the deepest nor the widest canyon of the world but it is famous for its overwhelming size and specially the intricacy and colourful landscape. It was 1540 when the first European named Garcia Lopez viewed the Grand Canyon. The original inhabitants of the canyon are Peublo People who were Native Americans. TOURISM

The Grand Canyon is a big tourist attraction in United States of America. Grand Canyon National Park is one of the most famous natural attractions in the world. You can imagine that how popular is the site with the fact it attracts about 5 million people every year.  But the majority of the tourists are from the different states of America which is about 83% while the remaining 17% of the visitors come from other countries like United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Canada and Japan.No doubt that the site as a whole is a wonderful place to see. Besides the normal sightseeing at Grand Canyon, there are other activities which the visitors can enjoy like rafting, hiking and helicopter tours.  If you have a plan to visit the site then you have all the options to reach and access. To reach the floor of the valley you can access by foot, muleback or by boat or raft. It is very difficult for the hikers to come down the canyon and reach back to the rim in one day.

The officials recommend because of the distance, steep and rocky trails and heat exhaustion. Recently on the west side of Grand Canyon the Hualapai tribes opened the Grand Canyon Skywalk which is glass bottomed. This gives the beautiful view indeed but it has some limitations like you can’t take cameras and personal equipment are not allowed in view of securing the glass from damage.

Imagine yourself suspended at 4000 feet over the majesty of Grand Canyon, witness the glory of the Colorado River below, amazing view of sunrise over the carved peaks of canyon.

PLANTS AND ANIMALS

Grand Canyon National Park has different types of plants. There are about 1737 species of vascular plants, 167 species of fungi and 64 species of moss. There are about dozen of endemic plants. There are 34 species of mammals of which 15 are rodents and eight are bats. The weather of the place varies according to the elevation. The forested parts of the canyon receive snowfall in winter. The weather remains dry but there is substantial precipitation twice a year. The fatalities of the place are also known.
